Was looking at things to do and places to eat and drink basically any info. Going Ryanair so its bus from Rygge airport. Have only looked at one accommodation and thats Comfort Hotel Xpress so if anyone has any suggestions on all matters please let me know

I can recommend Residence Kristenlund. http://www.kristelund.no

Relatively cheap with free WiFi. We were there for our Wedding Anniversary in October. I even managed to negotiate a better price than their website offers, when I emailed them, so well worth trying at least !

It's about a 20-30 minute walk into the Harbour Area and about a 15-20 minute walk to Majorstuen, where the outdoor skating rink is, and where you can get the bus up to Holmenkollen.

    Thanks

    Dave

The Comfort Hotel is grand. Try the Thon hotels or Raddison, and the Grand Hotel if you really want to splash out

Good places to eat are Pascals, Havsmak (Fish), Delicatessen (Tapas), Olivia (Pizza), Druen, San Leandro (Tapas) and Ekebergrestauranten if you really want to splash out.

For most of the places you will be looking around €50 a head for 2 course without drinks. Wine starts about €60 a bottle and beer is about €8-12 for 400ml glass.

    Enjoy!

If you're on a tight budget I can recommend the below:

Curry and Ketchup, Kirkeveien 51 (near Majorstuen station). Cheap and popular indian restaurant, often full during the weekends. Cash only.

Also Pasta Basta in Bogstadveien (down hill from Majorstuen station).

As we were on a very tight budget, for lunch, we used to buy a large bageutte in a Bakery, take it to McDonalds, buy a couple of bags of chips, and make chip butty's !!

I haven't been to Oslo before, but I'm going there for 2 days at the end of the month.

I'm staying at the Comfort Hotel Boersparken, near the opera house.

The Comfort Xpress has great reviews on Tripadvisor....

If you decide to go with either the Comfort Xpress or Boersparken, then look at the weekend offer they have....http://www.choicehotels.no/comfort/en/package/NO104/7682?cid=2816463

Comfort hotel Express looking the best option. No Frills hotel and extra for breakfast but its still one of the cheapest

Could be bringing my packed lunches and boxes of cereal over for the weekend:)

    Hi there

I hope you enjoy Oslo, there is plenty to do.

The Boat Trips are great particularly if you get warm weather. We did the Evening Cruise with the Prawn Buffet two nights in a row as there was a rare heatwave in Oslo the time we visited! Takes three hours and the scenery is wonderful. Lovely old wooden boat.

It looks like the evening one doesnt start till June but the daytime boat trips are on now - see the Visit Oslo site for details and online booking. You can also book down at the harbour. http://www.visitoslo.com/

There is a shopping area also at the harbour called Aker Brygge - lots of shops, restaurants - some v. pricey, food stores for a picnic, icecream stands etc.

The Viking Ships Museum and the Munch Museum are also well worth a visit. Enjoy.
