Called to court as a witness

I received a letter which has called to court as a witness in my hometown, to a car accident that happened 2 years ago. I barely saw what happened, and gave a statement at the time, and at this point- I can barely remember what I saw.

Anyway, the date I have to go in, I'm supposed to be working so is there anyway I can claim loss of earnings or change the date?

What if the shoe was on the other foot and you were depending on another person as a witness? Do the decent thing!

It's just that I got some work that week and I hate missing a day because of wages and also because it doesn't look good to my employer, as I'm not permanent in the job.

Show your employer the witness summons , no way you can change the date. Contact the clerk of the court re. claiming loss of earnings ( that is not to say such a claim will be entertained ).

Is it a civil or criminal case?
