Ihave cyanogen mod 7 stable and want to update to 7.0.4 or whatever is the latest stable version.
I don't want to go through the whole start from scratch again.
    Thanks

No need to wipe when updating from CM7 to the latest version. All your apps and settings will be kept when updating the ROM.

No need for MyBackup Root or Titanium too on CM7. As its an AOSP based ROM, all your apps and settings are backed up to Google servers and will be downloaded automatically when you re-install from scratch.

No need to use any backup at all, just use the built-in google backup! Worked perfectly for me, restored all my apps and settings. This definitely wins as the simplest.

Note that it does not actually back your apps up, just a list of what you have installed. When restoring it will go to market and download all the apps you had. Thus it won't restore non-market apps.

Nandroid backups etc are only needed for developers messing aroudn with custom roms. Google backup is fine for 99% of people.

I just use the google cloud myself (my phone autodownloads apps when I install a fresh ROM).
For SMS, I use SMS Backup & Restore.
For bookmarks, I use Bookmark Sort & Backup.

I'm usually up and running about 15 mins after changing my ROM.

i use go sms pro for both my sms app and to do backup/restore - it works very well and will do delta backups and settings backups too
it'll even send them to your email address :-)
