    Hey all,
I have ~15k to spend and Im wavering around an S40, S60 or S80.
I was thinking 2008+ for tax reasons but the premium on 2008+ cars might not be worth it?

I dont think I do the mileage to need a diesel (commute is 30 mins max motorway each day) but want to cut down on the tax (currently ~850 for a 1.8 avensis)

I'd be worried about the mpg of the larger S60 & S80's but they do seem to be a much higher spec. Found this but again 2.4 petrol sounds expensive to run!
also this but should I be concerned about 151K on a car like this?

Any other options of cars that would be similiar spec, perhaps an A6?

    Cheers!

I'm a bit confused here, you say you want to cut down on tax but the two Volvos you are looking at cost the bones of €1k to tax per year. Also a 1.8 Avensis costs around €580 to tax not €850.

Sorry for confusion, I was looking at the tax rates for the S40 D which is ~350, hadnt looked up the S60 or S80 yet. Though if they are up where you say they are then forget that!

Any preferences between the S40 and an A6?

I'm afraid if you want something cheap to tax then it will most likely have to be diesel from 2008 onwards. Given the low mileage and your budget that would kind of rule that out.

If you are willing to look at something higher up the tax brackets then you would have a wider choice and these cars are cheaper to buy because everyone wants low tax diesels.

Pretty nice spec Honda Accord auto here:

    Cheers, nice car.
    What about this
Is it underpowered at 1.6? Should the 126,000km cause concern?
Also it seems like its the basic spec model

    Tax is only 156/year!
