    Hi all,

I'm currently looking at picking up an Egg chair of some sort. I know this type of chair is considered the original egg chair

and that over time they evolved to these

Any ideas where I could pick something up similar to either of these? I know Classic Furniture sell "ball style" chairs for just under €1,000, which I think is a completely mad price.

Any idea where I could pick one up a bit cheaper than that?

I would have thought €400 would be enough to pick something like this up.

And you will get zero responses with an attitude like that.

Well I got zero responses from the initial post I put up, so I can't really do any worse.

I would have thought that Interior Design and Decoration would have been a fairly activate forum. Perhaps I was wrong.

I'm sure I saw one in Instore, was a while ago now though..when people had money to spend on egg chairs... may be worth a shot?

We have one of the first type -- the Jacobsen egg chair in black leather -- and love it. Comfortable and compact.

BUT. . . the stand was broken by some rambunctious 8-year-olds. I came on to this forum to ask if anyone has any ideas for where I might get it fixed in the Dublin area (or farther afield). Not sure what it needs -- maybe some kind of gasket in the swivel part?

    Any ideas?

    Hi Shane732

Have you tried amazon? I'm not sure how practical that would be but they seem to have some at fairly better prices than Ireland: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=egg+chair&tag=googiehydra-21&index=aps&hvadid=5006320230&ref=pd_sl_4vahk5yitc_e

I have seen some on a website called Furniture-online-ireland - BUT I've never used this website and I've no idea whether its legit or any good. They have a selection from €660 to over €1000. This is the link and scroll down about halfways: http://furniture-online-ireland.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=411_382

I'm not sure if its still open BUT If you are in Dublin, there is a shop in Blackrock called Lost Weekend that also do the Egg Chair but its the Arne Jacobsen designed and Republic of Fritz Hansen made original and sells at over €4000 - yes thats €4000 and not a typo!! Just in case I've linked their website here for you: http://www.lostweekend.ie/products-page/chairs/lounge-chairs/the-egg/

Perhaps a good bet would be to check out any interior or furniture shops near you - I find independent shops ( as opposed to mass companies) very helpful sometimes as if you talk to them, they may be able to try and source one for you !!

Othyerwise its a case of just keeping an eye out... you could check out secondhand websites like Ebay, Donedeal, Buy&Sell, as you never know your luck and when one might just pop up !!!

Best of Luck with your search and please keep us up to date with how you get on!!:)

Can I take off the bit on the bottom of the chair connected to the curved bar? Its fairly restrictive.
