I just saw the above book (hardback) in Chapters for €7.99, earlier today. It would make a nice gift. I read it last year & thought it was one of the best books I have read.

More vampire crap, is it not? And first of a trilogy whose remaining books have yet to be written? Not what I'd first think of in terms of a gift, to be honest. And at that price, no great bargain either.

Don de Lillo's latest in hardback for 1.99 though (also in Chapters.) Now THAT'S a bargain.

Oh OK, whatever you're into I suppose!

I read a few "other" vampire books, & thought they weren't great. However, I liked this one. Each to his own taste.

€7.99 wasn't a bad price, it was originally €17.99 or so.

I'll have a look at the Don de Lillo one, just to compare....

A lot of people likened this to The Stand by Stephen King. Might pick it up. Cheers OP.

Yes, I loved "The Stand" too, maybe that's why I liked this book. I didn't think it was totally about vampires. It was more a post-apocalyptic vision of the world, and a road journey to find other survivors. It was a bit like "The Road" too, I suppose.

Anyway, I liked it and might purchase a few more copies to share with other readers.

Enjoyed it myself. Though the fisrt 300 - 400 pages were very well put together. After that the second have of the story starts so it slows down again (another two books expected).

    Would recommend it.

It's not vampire crap in the same way the Twilight stuff is - not by a long shot.

I read it last year and it is indeed somewhat similar to The Stand with vampires. Even the 'vampires' aren't typical - more animal than dudes with white faces and lipstick.

    A good read, I thought.
