problems with fas and social welfare

ok so i recently applied for a course in fas and i was told it would be weeks or even months before a spot opened up so i thought i had some time before i sorted stuff out with the dole, unfortunately i got a letter the next week saying i had an interview type thing with fas and that it was'nt an offer for a place on the course, so thats all good i went to the interview and what ever and then suddenly the next day i got call saying i was to start on tuesday(got the call on sunday) so thats was alright untill i went to the dole today and now there telling me that i can't get paid from fas cause the course already started and that i can't get the dole cause im on a course, so what can i do, i can't do this course without getting paid not that im only doing it for the money but i can't be expected to live off my parents for the rest of my life my mum can't afford to be paying for my lunch's and what not for the course, so im wondering if any of you could help me and tell me what i can do

Why weren't you getting a social welfare payment already? What age are you?

If you weren't already getting a social welfare payment, then you don't get paid a training allowance while on a FAS course.

im not on social welfare because i just finished a college course in april and then the fas thing came up straight away, but the reason i did'nt get down and sort things out with social welfare before the fas course started is because i was told id be waiting for atleast 3-4 months for a place to open up in the course and then i got the letter saying i had an interview but not a gaurenteed place on the course where as if they had just said i was getting on the course i could have sorted everything out, oh and im 20 , i understand i can't get paid if i was'nt already on social welfare but sureley something could have been sorted out i mean the course only started 24 hours prior to me going down to the dole

unfortunately not, i was advised to leave the fas course and then get the dole and reapply for the next course which is in september, so im in the process of getting the dole i have an interview on tuesday , thanks for asking

thanks, im gonna be doing ecdl in louglinstown, then i'll probably decide to go on doing something with computers

The payment you applied for was jobseekers allowance. Starting a Fas course immediately after leaving another course does not constitute jobseeking.
