    Hi All,

    Quick question.

    Peugeot 307
    1.4 petrol
    2002
    55,000 miles

    Does it have a timinig belt or a chain and when should it be replaced?

    It's a belt and needs changing every 60,000 miles.

    Surely a nine year old car would have had its belt changed by now? Normally car manufacturers say something like every 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Belts degrade over time, even if you do low mileage.

    OP, I would imagine there is a five year limit on the belt - so it should have been changed in 2007 and will need changing again next year.

    I think (but am not sure) that the time interval is 8 years on those.
