    Tosh Sat Pro question

Daughter has a Tosh Sat Pro, 160Gb HDD, 3 partitions NTFS

Partition 1 1.5Gb for system recovery
Partition 2 73Gb (there abouts) Windows Vista Home installed
    Partition 3 73Gb ( there abouts) Data

Now problem is that instead of neatly installing things between the two drives she installed just about everything on the partition 2 and it now has approx 3 Gb of space left while partition 3 is virtualy empty. Have tried the windows manager which is supposed to allow you to adjust partition sizes but though I can decrease the size on partition 3, to free up space, it won't allow me to expand the partition 2 to then use that space! Any ideas?

Thats what most people will do, by default the partition 2 is going to be c:
its not nessicarrily a bad thing, i find its not always a great idea to play around with partitions in windows when there is a recovery partition in the mix also..

Just transfer all big quantities of static files like pictures, movies music over to the other partition and resume working.. This will clear up a lot of space on the c: drive and will make for a neater environment!

If you REALLY want to though you can use a program called GParted..

You boot from the CD , you can get it for free here : http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php

and a tutorial on how to use it for windows,
    http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-gparted-to-resize-your-windows-vista-partition/

    Good luck!

you could do it from within windows using a program called easus partition manager, you can resize or even delete the Data partition. i'd leave the recovery partition where it is though! ;)

also that program is easier than getting your head around gparted...

Big thankyou, used Eausus, worked a treat once I realised that I needed to move the empty data partition I created to be next to the Vista partition so I could extend it
