Router works with Mac but not PC?

    Hi guys,

Would appreciate some help here. I've a UPC standard router dealie, and I use an ethernet cable to plug it into my Macbook. Works grand. When I unplug it from the Mac and plug it into my Windows XP laptop - nada. I've tried it with a second XP laptop and still nothing.

I've used both laptops with their ethernet before, so I'm confident both ports are working. There's no sign of the ethernet cable being connected, but both drivers etc are apparently working perfectly. I haven't changed around system preferences or anything.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried a different cable, could be the mac makes better contact on the cable than the Windows machines.

Is the adaptor enabled on windows xp?

If there are no adaptors showing do you have the drivers installed?

Do you get any sign of life? Normally when you plug an ethernet cable in you will get a green or yellow light behind it?

Did you previously have static ip settings configured on the adaptor which dont apply to new connection?
