How much would a 2008 A4 3.0 TDI quattro retail approx. next year (Jan 2012) if I were looking to buy one?

You need a crystal ball for that one!

Find out how much you can get one for now, then find out how much an 07 2.5 TDI is worth now, it'll be somewhere in the middle.
I wouldn't imagine anyone bought one in this country. Not when you could get the A6 or practically any other car for €57,000

I was looking at a 07 in a main dealer about 2 weeks about. Asking €37000 for it but your man told me it will have to sell for less because of the high tax so might be worth getting an 07 model instead? Buy a lot of tax for the savings on some of these cars?

    How much?

Here's one for €19k! Irish and low miles too.

Sorry, one I was looking at was a Quattro. Should probably have read that a bit closer :S

    All 3.0TDIs are quattro

If i was buying a 3.0TDi id want leather, sat nav and Xenons at the very least in other words id go to the uk - i currently have a 2.5 TDi and that was my spec list when shopping.

    37k for a '07 A4. that's hilarious.

I think it may be around €13k but it depends on too many things to predict it...

I know it's an Irish car, but that is shockingly basic for a top level diesel engined A4, even by poverty spec Irish standards (and it is an Irish car because the clocks are in kph). The only positive I can see is the C reg:D!

The A4 is not a sports car either, so it really should be an automatic and obviously no leather is a serious drawback with that car. It's one thing ordering a poverty spec A4 with the boggo 1.9 TDI in it, but it's quite another ordering the best diesel for the car and it coming with SFA as standard. One presumes that someone who orders a 3.0 diesel in their A4 knows something about cars, and would have known it needed leather and the automatic gearbox at a minimum (even then it would still be basic enough, but at least the essentials would have been covered then).

A car like that really should have leather, automatic, xenons and headlight washers, auto-dimming rear view mirror, rain sensing wipers (it doesn't have these features either), electric seats and one or two other toys (like satnav).

Eh I dunno. I for one would prefer such a car to be a manual.

Rang the garage for a chat after reading this and was told he mixed up the price for an A8 (some sales man...!) Good to know its still rip off ireland. Service for Monday in that garage, Cancelled!
& my wish list is tiptronic but dunno can you get it on any of the A4's?

I dont really understand the 3ltr tdi in an A4
Is the 2ltr not enough, its not like its a large car...or an interesting car, i would think of it as a hack.....but thats just me.

well its no more or less of a hack than a 3 series saloon i suppose.

some people would prefer to have a decent engine in what is supposed to be a premium marque, 4 cyl diesels certainly dont float my boat

Fair enough...would never have thought of an Audi A4 as a premium marque though......I see them as RepMobiles, probably why you wont find a 3ltr easily.
They are a nice enough car but just so dam boring zzzzz

Some lads drink beer, I drink fuel :) Well not in a literal sense but you know what I mean! Engines fascinate me (I know, think I'd climatiseto the modern era) so thats why I would like to have a brute of a 3l TDi. I'd also love a 3L or 4.3L V8 etc etc but baby steps towards getting their!

well audi is a premium marque, so an a4 would be percieved to be a step up on passat, modeo, insignia etc?

Yep agree with ya there, i just dont think its a better car than an Insignia....but it does have more driveway appeal then the Insignia...if thats your thing.
    I would take a 530d over a 3ltr A4 any day

    indeed

hence why there are very few 3.0 tdi a4s sold ;)

Leather and auto, yes, it should. Xenons, I could take or leave. The rest of your list, I'd sooner not have at all on a 2nd hand car. They add nothing except the possibility that they'll go expensively wrong at some stage.

It is a heavy car though. Test drove some 2 litre tdi's - underpowered IMO

Personally the A4 doesn't do anything for me, but to be fair while the 120bhp and 140bhp versions are nothing to write home about my cousin has a 170bhp version and it's brisk enough, relatively speaking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭Leonard Hofstadter

The A4 does nothing for me either, but then again most of them are poverty spec boggo diesels with front wheel drive.

In fairness you cannot compare a nice big engined quattro to most of the rubbish the general public like to buy. I just think it's a pity that particular A4 is so basic and has the wrong gearbox:)!

I think anyone would. Why are you comparing a 5 series with an A4 though? They aren't in the same class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Audi have managed to get the new A6 3.0 TDI into tax band C or B afaik so surely they could do the same with the smaller, lighter A4.

Im aware of that. My point was if i was in the market for a 3ltr diesel that would be a better car than the A4.
I would probably go for something completly different anyways as i dont like A4 Tdi's and their scummers car image and im not mad on the idea of a 530d...even if it is a cracker.

I'd probably go for the Jag XF if I was in the market for a 3.0 diesel.

+1 or at least the A6. I would get a A8 if I was getting a 3.0 Diesel engine. A 3.0 in a A4 is a waste of time imo unless you go the whole hog and get the RS4 which would be a savage car..

To be honest, automatic gearboxes are better to the so powerfull engines because they are much more high torque resistant, but if we talk about having fun then yeah, manual is much better : d

Very hard to fine a 330d saloon either, its a universal thing. Personally I'd be tempted by an A4 3.0TDI quattro avant, nice engine, amazing grip and plenty of practicality.

Not sure why people are saying they would prefer an XF or 5 series, they are much bigger cars in the next class up competing with the A6, not the a4.

My Skoda has all that gear and its got more room than an A4. Also its not as common as an A4 (every tom, dick and harry has an A4!)
