    Hi Guys,

I tried having a search for this topic but I couldn't see any.

Also not looking for medical advice as I will be seeing the physio this week...

Okay so i have gotten a weird muscle knot or shin splint in my right calf.

I have heard some of ye guys talk about 'foam rollers' to work out muscle knots.

What are they? and would ye recommend them?

A foam roller being used on the calves. It lets you give yourself a massage, basically. Not as good as visiting a masseuse, but a lot cheaper.

I was shown a slightly different way of doing it. If you cross your legs and just work one calf at a time, the pain can be unbearable, you should be rolling very slowly up and down and when you feel a sore spot hold it for a few seconds.
