New Irish HTC Repair Centre?

Sounds unlikely I know, but this is what the call centre rep told me today. Here's how it went...

    1) Phoned HTC to book in my phone for repairs (HTC Desire has random restart problem), following the same procedure used by other people on this forum. Got ticket ID, and arranged to have phone collected tomorrow.

    2) Shortly afterwards, email arrives containing the standard consent form, etc. My home address was hopelessly incorrect (the call center lad's English was poor).

    3) I phoned back to give the correct address, but I got through to a different rep (who also had poor English). When he realised I was calling from Ireland, he said that the previous staff member had made a mistake, and that since April there has been an "Irish HTC repair centre", and we need to go through our retailer (Carphone Warehouse in my case) to make arrangements. He cancelled the previous arrangement to collect my phone tomorrow and told me I need to contact CPW.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Sounds like nonsense to me. I'd rather have HTC fix my phone than Fonemenders. :(

same thing happened to me today. Spoke to HTc last week, told me they'd pick up the phone and repair it in the UK. Called back to arrange pickup and they said they don't repair or replace mobiles in Ireland. Told me to go back to retailer, got it online and they refuse to do anything for me. Rang HTC again and demanded to speak to supervisor, he said they have a new place in Dublin alright and they might take the phone directly from me. Tried ringing them, no answer, so I'm calling HTC back tomorrow to book my phone into the repair centre in UK. Apparently they will accept phone from Ireland there but the shipping is at your cost. Load of ****e really coz the phone is brand new and didn't work day one.
Anyone with other info please let us know because I am really disappointed with HTC on this matter.

I just checked and it is not the MPRC crowd in Sandyford Ind. Estate which looks like it's now called Fonfix, they don't have HTC listed as one of the manufacturers they support. I have been there on numerous occasions getting Nokias fixed under warranty.

thanks for that, unfortunately, I've already gone down the usual root of writing letters explaining the situation etc. got no reply, contacted consumer affairs who offered little help so HTC are my best bet for getting anything.
Not sure if I can mention who I bought it from here, if I can I most certainly will as I dont want to see anyone in the same position as me.

Also if anyone is interested the phone is a HTC incredible S, nice phone but the call feature is ****, everytime i ring someone they cant hear me, just an echo of themselves. Hopefully not a recurring issue with this model, we'll soon find out.

I went into Carphone Warehouse yesterday to see what the procedure is, and the lad there told me that it is MPRC that they send the phone to. He said that if MPRC can't fix it, they'll send it to HTC in England for repair. So basically, the HTC rep was full of shiite.

Can anyone advise me on what to do here? I could possibly push for the phone to be sent directly to HTC in the UK, but they've just moved facility and have a backlog of several weeks.

Alternatively, I could give it to CPW, who'll send it to MPRC, who might have to send it to HTC anyway (see coylemj's post) - thus adding even more time to the process. Either that, or they'll try to fix it themselves. I did a search for MPRC, and reviews seem to be mixed.

Bring it yourself to MPRC (http://www.mprc.ie/) now called Fonfix in Sandyford Ind Estate, they're a good bunch to deal with. Driving into Sandyford Industrial Estate from the roundabout at the end of Brewery Road (near Leopardstown racecourse), get into the right lane, go straight through the lights at the Luas crossing, then take the next right about 50m up the road, drive down to the bottom of that road, go right at the end and they are right in front of you.

They will scan the barcode on the phone and tell you immediately if it's still under warranty. Do a backup before you hand over the phone as they often scrub the phone memory when doing diagnostics and loading new firmware. Assuming they can fix it, you can usually pickup the phone the same day if you drop it in before about 11.

Hi sorry to bring this thread up again but was wondering about this mprc.ie place. They dont list HTC as a manufacturer that they deal with, have you used them for a HTC phone?
