Mini Mechanic/Garage - Recommend??

Sorry Mods if this is the wrong place for this, move if necessary :)

My 2002 Mini Cooper is having engine trouble, essentially loosing power (and sucking fuel like there's no tomorrow) and "missing" or chugging when accelerating.

I usually go to Maxwells in Blackrock for Mini repairs but alas they've gone into receivership. ( :( )

I'm looking for a garage with mini-qualified technicians or good experience fixing Mini's in the south dublin/dun laoghaire-rathdown area. Anyone have any reccomendations or know any garage that specialises in Mini repairs? Don't wanna have to go out to Joe Duffy due to work time restraints etc.

Thanks in advance for any help :o

Hey OSI, thanks for the advice! No I get exactly what you mean, hence another reason I don't want to cart it all the way to Joe Duffy. Maxwells were good because they had the mini technicians at non franchised prices for labour etc.

If theres a decent non franchised mechanic who will take good care of my car in the area, then thats great! Unfortunately I don't have much experience with other garages, as we usually do all DIY repairs and only the last couple of years I just brought it to Maxwells.

If you're able to recommend anyone, that would be great. Thanks :)

Sounds like a sensor issue, Ive no idea what type the MINI uses but you may want to find a garage with the MINI diagnostics.

Thanks MCM and Kona, I will check out the garage suggested. Yes I want them to be able to hook it up to Mini diagnostics.

I'd be very surprised if it isn't a coil - I would have additionally said it may be the fuel pump instead, but you're saying it's using a lot of fuel. You wouldn't need specific MINI Diagnostics to work with the R50 MINI, anything like a Launch X431 or a Snapon would work fine also.

Only things that really go on MINIs of that era related to your prob would be fuel pump, coils, and throttle body.
