    Any thoughts on new machine? Quad core is appealing to me.

    They got a price drop as well. Old and new prices below:

    21.5-inch
    €1229 --> €1149
    €1529 --> €1449

    27-inch
    €1729 --> €1649
    €2029 --> €1899

    Was the price drop not expected considering they dropped the price of the Mac mini by €100 shortly before Christmas?

    Yeah, Apple bumped the Eurozone price of all their machines last year. The last iMac refresh increased the price of the low end 21.5 and 27-inch models by €130 and €230 respectively. They've now gone back down by €80 each. The Euro is a bit better now so I guess a corresponding price drop was to be expected.

    The Mini, however, went up by €250 last year before dropping back down a €100. It was ridiculously overpriced and surely killed Eurozone sales.

    Not likely - next year they are likely to feature the all singing and dancing Thunderbolt port for video out replacing the mini DisplayPort.

    Next year???

    The new iMacs have 2 x Thunderbolt ports which also act as a mini displayport.
