    Hi

Heading to Italy at the end of the month and spending one night in Pisa. Getting in very late, around 23.30 and by the time we get to the hotel I'd imagine it will be well after 12! Just wondering if anyone on here would be able to tell me if there would still be places to grab a bite to eat and have a drink at that hour? I see a lot of restaurants in the area around the hotel close at 11 or so. It's really just a flying visit but I would like to see a little bit of the city at night!!

Any info would be much appreciated!

    Cheers :)

    Hi HappyFriday,

Did a bit of Italy last year and was based in Pisa. Everything shuts down at 11pm, even the taxis. There is not much to do in the town and to be honest we regretted basing ourselves there. We stayed in the San Ranieri hotel, its a business persons hotel. You will find it hard to find things at night with regards eating or getting a drink that late.

There isn't a whole lot to the city at night either as it is more of a university town and the students go to bed early . We ended up in the town one night and they had a games night on (board games!!!) and felt quite out of place having a drink as the rest were having coffee and ice cream only and messing on their mopeds.

That said the leaning tower and church are beautiful and it is nice to walk around the city during the day. They are very touchy about not wearing a t-shirt though. I took off my t-shirt as it was in the high 30's and the police approached me saying that it was not allowed.

Arrived in Pisa around 1am after a delayed flight. The city was dead and If memory serves it was a Saturday night!

We just asked the guy on the desk if we could get a sandwich made up and he obliged.

Throw a couple of sandwiches and bananas in your bag. Pisa is less a small city than it is a medium sized town. Spend no more than half a day in it if you can.
