when to plant out sunflowers

I potted 15 giant sunflowers two weeks ago they are growing well in pots. When should i plant them out May or June also do i have to harden them off first.

My kids have 40 No :eek: growing away, dont know quite where I am going to put them all, but I know slugs and snails love them!

I am going to leave mine another week or so, as they only sprouted last week.
I think you are fairly safe, but they will need staking and slug protecting
