After I get my redundancy I understand that I apply for Job Seekers benefit. Am I allowed to return to study during this time as a mature student? What exactly are my options or any advice? I have need been unemployed so finding the whole thing a little daunting?

If you return to study full time you are not entitled to a jobseekers payments. If it's part time, you may still be entitled.

There's a lot of combinations and grants available, so you probably need to talk to your SW office to find out what might be available for you.

You might be entitled to back to education allowance or a grant have you studied before? what do you want to study? might be a good idea to think about this and maybe go on the mature students forum

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

    Hi,
found out last week I'm being made redundant. After 11 years in the same company and 14 in the same field I too am a little overwhelmed by it. Feel physically sick and depressed and haven't a clue what to do or where to start.

If anyone has any tips or advice it would be appreciated very much.

    Thanks.

You can apply for BTEA ( Back To Education Allowance ) however I think you have to have been in receipt of Job Seekers Benefit / Allowance for at least 6 months beforehand.

yes indeed you will have options regarding further education..
but the problem is The country is bankrupt when it comes to finding a longterm job..at best with your newly aquired qualifications you will be offered a six months contract and then shown the door..welcome to new ireland..
