Passing Exams

    Hey,

I am currently in JF Business and have a question about exam results.

Say for example you already have 30% of a module in the bag and you get 30% in the written exam which say translates to 20% overall. This would lead to an overall result of 50%.

Would you pass the module or fail it because you failed the written aspect of the exam?

You'd have to check your course regulations.

Generally speaking though, if you fail an exam badly enough (ie too low to pass by compensation, where that's allowed), then continous assessment alone won't let you pass the course.

In my case, I have enough marks from last year's exams and essays and this year's essays to get an overall pass for my degree, but if I don't show up for my exams (or show up and write nothing) I still won't get it.

    In summary, ask your tutor.

    In summary, ask your tutor.

This is always the best advice, really. Boards is really great for info, but for stuff like this, it's always best to just ask your tutor.

I had the same query. I emailed my tutor to check.
He said its possible to fail the written paper and still pass the year because I need 40percent combining the assessments from throughout the year and the written paper. So I could get 20percent from my added assessments and 20percent on the written paper and pass the year.
But I'm not doing your course, so email your own tutor and see.

Depends on the weighting of the exam and the CA. I for example need 29.34% in my exam in 7 and a half hours to get to 35% and have a chance to pass by compensation from my other subjects :P
