Just wonder what the likely outcome is in a situation where a married couple with 2 kids split. Hypothetically speaking he has a job paying around 35k per annum (salary dropped due to economic climate). She does not work.

I would have thought she will get the house the car and a maintenance order of 200 per week. (complete wild guess) In reality what will happen or whats the max a Judge can give?

Seems harsh that he loses the house and gets turfed into the bed sit when he worked for it. Also from a legal point of view if you feel that a female Judge will be biased can you request a male Judge?

Also if you were made redundant - whats the max a Judge can take from a persons dole of 188 per week for maintenance??

Did you ever get an answer to this?

In my case the Judge ordered me to pay 125% of my social welfare income to my wife ( 2 children).

When I asked how I could pay that from my income he told me 'your partner will pay'. She was not in court and he still ordered the payment.

Best of luck because the District Court is a mental case.

Under no circumstances should you let this come to the Judge to decide. Do your level best to agree with your wife outside of the courts. If this is not possible then anything becomes possible. There is no justice for fathers against a tearful ex wife ( who is allowed to lie unchallenged).

Your experience may vary but this is me in the last three months. I expect to be flamed but I could send you the judgements if you want proof.

Even the high profile case recently where a spouse was awarded 18000 per month in maintenance was only 14% of the husband's income ( stated at 1.4m). District Courts are weird.
