    Hi Marie,

I tried putting a reply on jumbletown but i think if there is more than 10 posts it won't allow anymore, it kept coming up with server error when i tried to post anyway here is what i was trying to say :)

if the problem happened while the files were copying over during re- installation, it could be a hard drive error, if you were getting messages like “XXXXfile failed to copy Abort retry ignore”

it is common with fujitsu laptop "fujitsu branded" hard drives if they are failing, an OEM installation of xp will probably install correctly but if the hard drive is damaged or failing, you will eventually get blue screens BSOD's

another possibility is if its just the boot sector that is damaged repairing it might solve it for you.

you could try this to see if it fixes it for you, pop in the original system recovery disc it should say the operating system is on the disc (not the driver disc)

power on the computer and press F12 you should be given options to boot from, i.e (1) cd rom or cd drive (2) Hard drive
select cd drive then it should say press any key to boot from cd

press a key on the keyboard and let it load up and start the computer, if a screen comes up to accept the user licence agreement press F8
you shoul be given 3 options

    (1)install XP
    (2) repair
    (3)quit

select repair by pressing r and press r again, a log on screen comes up to ask you which system to logon to press 1 for windows

type in the administrator password if there is no password set just press enter
    it should say

    C windows

    type in fixboot

you will be asked if you would like to write a new bootsector to drive c press y to continue

    then type fixmbr

you will be asked if you would like to write a new master boot record to drive c press y to continue

then restart the computer and see if it fixes the problem
    good luck with it :D

you can pm me if you have any questions
