Battery issue

I would be very grateful if someone could help me, but I seem to have a bit of a strange issue.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop and over the last few days the battery charging meter has been playing up. When I charge the battery the meter hits 11% and stops. This is not to say that it only charges 11%, as I have timed the life of the battery and it seems to be at a full 100% charge, but the battery charge meter is informing me that it is just 11% charged (at around 21 minutes). This isn't an issue when I am at home and able to just plug in, but I travel around quite a bit and need to know what the actual battery life is. Has anyone come across this issue before or knows how to resolve it? I would be really grateful if anyone is able to help.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Best Wishes

    Tracey

Are you running the latest Bios firmware?

have you tried uninstalling the battery in device manager, then power down the laptop, take out the battery, boot with the adapter only plugged in, then power down, re-insert the battery, and boot up the laptop. windows should then reinstall the files necessary to charge the battery correctly.
