Coat for all temperatures?

So it's that time of year again. I leave the house at 7am freezing cold so I put on my normal coat. By the time I'm coming home from work I'm roasting and end up carrying my coat as well as a load of other bags and stuff.

Is there a coat that will work for all temperatures but is also suitable to wear to work? Or maybe something that will be warm enough on chilly mornings but folds down really small so it's not annoying to carry home, yet still nice for an office job?

I've been looking for a mac for a while but haven't found any nice ones. Will keep an eye out thought.

Girl in the office gets same bus as me at the same bus stop at 7.20am She wears a shiny green or shiny blue rainmack.
When we got off the bus in town she sometimes removes the coat and carries it. Doesn't seem that heavy nor cumbersome.
There are two other girls in the office who have the same coats and they got them in Penneys.
Might be worth a look and certainly wouldn't cost the earth.
