The Final Stretch.

So, the Junior Cert is almost here. From tomorrow, there are only thirty-seven days left until the start of the Junior Cert.

A teacher of mine once described the Junior Cert as a long-distance race. In First Year, you start very slowly going at an easy pace. In Second Year, the pace picks up a bit but it's still fairly comfortable. Then, in Third Year, the pace picks up a lot and a lot more effort is needed to keep up. We are now into the final stretch - the sprint finish. This is where you need to put it all in. Even if you haven't done much for the rest of the year, you can still do very well if you put in the effort for the last month.

So, how are you all feeling about the Junior Cert at the moment? Are you confident, nervous, or do you just not care? Are you planning on working hard for the final month?

35 days to go actually. :p

Well, I kept on top of things throughout 1st and 2nd year, did my homework, studied for tests, all that malarkey. I always thought I'd start studying from the start of 3rd year for the big JC...Yeah, didn't happen. I haven't done nothing to be fair...I've still managed to keep on top of homework and I remember studying a bit over Christmas, and I did a bit of cramming for mocks and put off proper studying until after the following mid-term. Didn't happen either, said I'd start at Easter. I started off grand in Easter, followed a plan, got a few days done...then I decided to skip one day and I haven't gotten back into it since...So tomorrow is the new official start day. :P

Ara, I'm not feeling very confident, nor am I feeling very nervous. I'm not going to fail anything, but the plan was always 8 A's and 2 B's, and that feels very unlikely right about now. I haven't really been taking it very seriously though but sure feckit, I'll just try my best from tomorrow and see what happens, sure in the end it's only the JC. I just hope I'll be a lot more motivated in the LC. :p

I've never been that good at long distance running... I think I stopped and had a cup of tea during the race over Easter! My fabulous plan to really start studying over the holidays didn't work out that well. I would have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for you meddling kids visitors who decided to stay for another few days ( I also did some babysiting, watched some scooby doo:p) Okay I really wouldn't gotten away with it visitors or not:o I'm starting to realise I really don't know enough! I've revised all the bits I like so now I'm stuck with the bits I've been putting on the long finger all year (Irish history springs to mind) Ah well, there's always tomorrow...

I'm so proud of myself. Last night, I couldn't sleep, so at half one I got out my Business books and tried a Trading, Profit and Loss Appropriation Account and Balance Sheet. Needless to say I got it wrong and made some stupid mistakes due to tiredness, but it's the thought that counts, right? ;)

Anyway, I have a question. Say, in that question, for 2010, there are Reserves given in the Trial Balance. In the marking scheme, they add them on at the end of the Trading, Profit and Loss Appropriation Account as Opening Reserves to get your Reserves figure. Could you not just wait and not add them on until the Financed By section (so it would be like Reserves + P+L Balance instead of just Reserves)? That's what I had thought, but the marking scheme does it differently so I'm just wondering. It wouldn't affect the final answer either way.

I think you'd get the right answer by doing that, buy why take the risk of losing a mark for it? It's not too hard to put it in Appropriation. You'd probably need to ask your teacher or anyone who corrects the exam, but there's my two cents on it.

I'm sicker than I can remember being in a long time...I suppose I'll start at the weekend. :(

Well see, the thing is the subjects I like, and I'm good at I dont have to learn. In geography I sleep in most classes, and the teacher allows cos he knows i will get at the very least a B. The subjects I don't like I'll do some learning for and try to scrape by.

I know some people want to impress, but who? I would prefer to concentrate on life, that's why for example I got a book for the topic I plan on doing on University(dont go on telling me that if i fail i wont get in), and that's why instead of learning some pointless defintitions I study a 4th language. I'm Irish exemed so that makes it 3 foreign languages. I always was very bright and beyond my age.

So no, I'm not very stressed, I just want this year to go.
