I opened up the drums to have a look at the brakes, and they're shot through, pissin everywhere when I press the brake, the seals must be gone on the cylinder. I'm wondering would it be ok to call the breakers yard and order two replacement ones or are they expensive to buy new, would my local motor factors stock them?

    What car/year is it?
I got a replacement cylinder for one side on my 94 corolla for 15 from the breakers.

:eek:Did well, thats approx the same price they are new from a motorfactors.

These are not a part that would be bought second hand, they are a safety item and are very cheap new.

@pARTner81, if they are leaking that badly you need to replace the shoes too as they will be contaminated by fluid.

Years ago you would have honed the cylinders out and fitted new seals, these days you just buy new cylinders and stick them in.

Yeah, they're only €13 in Consort motor factors. You'd expect something that has been cast and machined like them cylinders to be more expensive. I'm not complaining!
