The term "bank holiday" should be changed to "public" or "National holiday". When one considers all the scandals that has happened in the banking sectors in recent years and also the fact that the public will be bailing out them for generations to come.

Why should we be continuously be reminded of these prciks every time we have a national day off.

Also ATMs should be exclusively located in Londis, Centra and Spar.

Today is a public holiday, Easter Friday is a bank holiday, there is a difference people just refer to them incorrectly...

But then people will say they think about the public sector on public holidays.

    When will it end?!

What difference will it make? Some people don't have those days off, should we shift the name completely to not remind them? The May-some-people-but-not-all-will-not-have-to-work-day, or maybe the August-limited compulsory-attendence-at-work-day.
Don't see it catching on meself.

Are you sure about that? I thought that Ireland only had public holidays, with bank holidays just a general term. In other words, the OP already has what he wants.

Banks should be renamed moneyholes. Enjoy your moneyhole holiday!
