Hi everyone. I wanted to ask how do i go about inviting my mother in law from india to visit us in ireland? Me and my husband have recently married last year and we have a baby on the way, I would love her to be here to meet her for the first time and also to be here for the birth of her grand daughter.

I am not sure how i would go about inviting her to this country. She would be coming for 2 weeks but i dont want her to have to apply for a tourist visa and would prefer to invite her.

Anyone know how i would go about this? thanks

As far as I know, whether you invite her or not, she will need a tourist visa if she is a citizen of India.

I've just gone through this process. She will need a tourist visa. You can go to the embassy's website in New Delhi and get all the details of the documents you need to send; what her itinerary will be, proof that either you or her have enough money (and no last minute lodgements count). She also needs proof of her obligations back at India which might be more difficult if she's older and doesn't work. PM if you need any more info.
And don't book flights until you have the visa!
