Legend, why we let him go and replaced with Soto still baffles me.

I expect to see him back at Anfield in some capacity in the future. Legend.

Legend, why we let him go and replaced with Soto still baffles me.
Because he wanted to play football for his final years rather than being a bench warmer.

Over the past 2 seasons since he left he's started 58 games for Bayer.
To give an idea of how much game time he'd have had at Liverpool, Soto has started 24 over the same period of time.

That being the case, he was right to ask to leave, and imo it would have been wrong to deny him the career ending move.

I just hope he'll be back in a coaching role one day.

Fantastic defender and seemed a really nice guy

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Someone should really post a farewell video.

    Criminally underrated imo.

Fantastic defender and always came across as a decent bloke as well.

What a signing he was at the time.

Liverpool had been searching to plug the defence for 2/3 years until he came along. The real deal. Great player.

Always remember him going off with a blood injury against Utd., cue the United goal. He was that important at the time.

    Top player and model professional.

Did he ever get a testimonial at Liverpool before he left?

Great player & person who gave great service to LFC! Extremely popular with the fans as the vid above shows.

Recommended to Houiller by a Dutch cameraman if I remember correctly.

Actually I don't think he did. I wonder why?

You have to be at a club 10 years to get a Testimonial i think

He played 10 seasons at LFC. Maybe a testimonial in the summer against Leverkusen will be lined up.

    +1

I remember chanting from the Kop years ago, . .
    "HEY SAMMI SAMMI,
    SAMMI SAMMI SAMMI
    SAMMI HYPIA"

Not the best lyrics I know, but I think he got the message. :D

Great player but a boring, boring bastard. Don't ever read his autobiography unless you suffer from insomnia.

Excellent player, top professional and from what I've heard - a very nice man too.

His type are dying out of the game and it's sad to see.

All the best to him in the future.
