    hse grants
    does anyone know if hse give grants out for furniture to start in a council house and how much it would be and how it is paid. i asked the council but they said go to hse with house offer letter thanks for your help

    What they meant was you should go and see your local C.W.O (community welfare officer).

    Hi I know of two people who were given council flats and they both got €2400 each. They were not together they were seperate flats. Hope that helps. That was in Boyle , Co Roscommon.

    This use to be handled by the community welfare officer as above. Once you do that you can then contact the Saint vincent de paul. They wont give you stuff for free but will give it at a good price second hand.

    i know a couple that have got a council house they received a cheque for 1.500 for there stuff from the c.w.o

    This is likely to be reference to an Exceptional or Urgent Needs Payment. These are discretionary payments and therefore will be for different amounts depending on the circumstances of the individual and the attitude of the local Community Welfare Officer.

    went in on thursday filled in form swa1 and dropped it in on friday told will get a decision next week hopefully doesnt take long
