I have the above laptop for about 3 years now, lately few small things started to go wrong. When it was doing the windows update it would say updating 1/4 etc dont power off etc it would stay on only way to power off laptop was to press power button.

Last 10 days or so it would forever to come on,either stay on microsoft widnows with green light below it flashing, and then change to grey screen and stay on grey screen for ages before it would go to the windows music and to desktop, but last few days it stays on grey screen and does not budge I know battery is on last legs I took out battery and used mains only but still same problem, only got it started by going to system restore and at that its slow.

Any one any advise or anyone experience similar problems ?

Start in safe mode (f8 on startup)and run some scans, malwarebytes, superantispyware would be a good start.

similiar enough situ to me - ran diagnostics and the hard drive is gone AGAIN. Laptop is only 26 months old and its the second hard drive to go. When last one was replaced Dell would only give warranty for 3 months on it. mightly pi**ed off at this stage. They are quoting approx 270e for new one. anyone know if possible to replace with another one purchased separately and avoid going thru Dell again...... seriously wouldn't give them another penny at this stage. was thinking of going to PC world or somewhere and seeing what my options are. Dell's customer service is so crap, we are all speaking english but my english and their english are world's apart and everything has to be repeated twice, they kept quoting me prices in sterling pounds and I kept having to correct them to euro, then they want a post code and wouldn't believe u didn't have one.

Would be cheaper to get new lap top than replace hard drive ?

You can get a new hard drive delivered for 50 quid or there abouts,5 mins with a screw driver,a couple of hours reinstalling your os.How much for a new laptop?
