Gardai who have been specially trained to enforce the law can get back to doing just that instead of driving ministers around. Financially, we are better off because the ministers will be responsible for the purchase and upkeep of the cars, the new drivers will probably be less well paid, we (presumably) won't be contributing towards their defined benefit pension and won't have paid for them to go through training in Templemore.

I cant wait for the day that stuttering, corrupt, sneaky rat Bertie loses his Garda driver and state car. And I hope to God he doesn't have a driving licence any more too.

It seems he's let his driving licence lapse, maybe he'll get a loan of John Gormleys bike.
