    Just posting for my Dad.
He was told to purchase a android tablet as he takes large amounts of photographs and could upload them for example at half time of a match or after he took some nice photos.

So when he fills up a memory card which he did recently he could upload them.
He has a canon 550d is there a tablet or even better a phone that would allow him upload photos.
Even better would be a phone and not a tablet as he is looking for a new phone anyways so be added bonus.
    Thanks.

Is this general question or is he looking for Android only?

Just out of experience its quite easy to do that with Windows Phone 7.

Ive got an Omnia 7 and i can set it to upload my pics automatically to SkyDrive after i take them and you have plenty of storage there. If you want to share them on facebook its just as easy as you can do it straight after doing by just to clicks. Same goes for HTC HD7 and LG Optimus 7.

Where does he wanna upload them?

It sounds like he has a proper digital camera and saves onto sdcard. Windows Mobile doesn't support sdcards, so don't mind evolutions suggestion. Neither does apple (lol). Lots of cheap android tablets and phones have sdcard slots tho. Get any of them, and just plug the sdcard in, then use whatever app you want to upload. Note some android deviecs don't have sdcard slots (nexus s is one). HTC wildfire is a cheapo one, zet blade is another. Good tablets are the new asus android one, cheap tablets are something like the archos 101 (e200).

The current tablets only have a 5mp camera and sounds like you dad is after better quality pictures. I can link you to some pics I took with my Motorola Xoom Tablet if you like ? Also yes it is very very easy to take a huge amount of pics and upload them to the web directly from the tablet and also video captured on the tablet directly to youtube :)

Not sure if I've got this right but sounds like your dad is taking the photos with a proper digital camera then wants to upload them off the SD card?

Personally I think he'd be better off just getting a second SD card and then using a laptop at home to upload all the pics. A full SD card would be a lot of data and that's pricey.

e90 for a 32gb micro sdcard. That's nothing compared to the price of some cameras :)

Most phones only have a micro sd card, whereas don't most cameras still use normal SD? For the likes of uploading photos at 1/2 time during a match, and wanting to quickly swap over a micro sd card in a phone, this is a pain as the micro sd cards are so small (1cmx1cm), and don't slot in the easiest. In this case I would recommend a tablet, as you can just plug in a normal SD card very easy. The other thing is how are you planning on uploading the photos to the web? Will 3G be quick enough to upload them in full size? I very much so doubt it, so you would need to compress them on the tablet before you upload them. Then of course you would need either the likes of a Samsung galaxy tablet which can accept a sim card, or use a USB broadband dongle.

The other really cutting edge option would be this:

No need for cables or swapping over of the SD cards, the photos get transfered straight away across to your phone/tab, using WiFi. If you dad needs a new phone anyway I would consider a decent HTC/Samsung on a three all you can eat dataplan, and then the likes of that wifi SD card!

Or use an adapter that costs a euro and is usually bundled free with microcards? Adapters of various sizes are available.

Ya still need to take the micro sd card out of the adopter to fit into the phone, which involves taking the back cover off a lot of phones. I wasn't trying to saying it couldn't be done, but its just a pain in the hole, and its so easy to force the micro sd card in the wrong way, or if you are swapping them around, to lose the spare micro sd card.

Not in my experience. Just don't leave them lying around, leave them in the device. They are keyed so you can't put them in the wrong way... If you are forcing it then you deserve to have a broken card.
