Recoil spring too strong?

I just bought an Army R17 (Glock 17) and I am having problems with it. I think the problem is the recoil spring. Very often the slide dosent blow back far enough to let the next bb in. I think that the blowback is very weak as well. That might be because the GBB I shot was a co2 deagle, but I still think the blowback is very soft. The slide definately isint blowing back far enough though. Would the recoil spring be the problem? I have very little GBB experince.

Ok, given your inexperience can i ask whether you have properly oiled the g17? Ie small squirt on all the moving parts with silicone oil and wiped away any excess. Sometimes a gun can get clogged by so much excess oil or become too dry, either will restrict the slide. If thats not the case then id strip the gun and make sure there arent any parts rubbing that shouldnt. If that still doesnt fix it then id suggest you take out the spring and put it under tension for aprox 10 hours, pop it back in, test with a full mag, dry rinse repeat til success. ;)

Never forget, the end goal is zero firearms of any type.

I did oil its slide. Im unwilling to go at the internals because all I have is remnington gun oil. It wasnt working right before or after oiling.

Try holding the mag in hard into the pistol when you fire, if it works then, it is a gas seal issue with the mag, this can be solved by engorging the gasket at the top of the mag with brake fluid. If not, the gas release valve may be sticking and needs to be oiled with silicon oil.
The other problem could be 'limp wristing', in a a low weight polymer gun, not holding the frame sturdily may allow the heavy slide to move less crisply against it. Hold the gun firmly and test it.

Try the above and post back on your findings.

    Let me get this right.

    You load the pistol.
    Fire it.
    A BB comes out.
The slide goes back but does not come all the way foward again and thus the pistol can only be fired once before you have to almost force the slide foward again?

If this is what has happened, you need to oil it up. I had the exact same problem with a WE M1911. I took my slide off, used silicon oil spray (as I had no grease) and sprayed all the slide and springs and such with it.

Next I removed the mag and manually moved the slide back and forth a number of times and then wiped off any excess oil that was weeping out of the gun. Everything shoots fine now, although being oil and not grease it will wear away quicker and need to be reapplied again.

I would recommend oiling the pistol after every game/propper use.

MagicIRL you have it a bit wrong. Lets say it has to slide back an inch to give a BB room to leave the mag and get pushed into the chamber. It blows back half an inch and so the BB dosent leave the mag. The BB in the chamber fires fine and the slide returns to where it started/should be

The guy I bought it off took it back saying it was faulty. He didnt seem knowledgeable and I think it could have been fixed. Im just curious now. I didnt try holding the mag in. I doubt I was limp wristing.

ive had the exact same problemo only a few days ago with my we 3.8 hicappa,

and they're right, all u need to do is take it apart and oil the internals, not the slide or mag,
    it worked for me

edit: when i said "not the slide or mag" i wasnt referencing magicIRL,
(you can still oil the slide & mag , but u need take apart and oil the internals to fix it)

and im positive its not the blowback spring, its definitely the internals (theres a specific part, cant put a name on it, its the black thing at the end of the gun that the mag slots up infront of, (any1 help me out)

Not sure what it's called but are you talking about the bit that pushes the BB forward?

I had the exact same problem as this with my WE 1911, it was a combination of low pressure gas and bad lubrication which caused it. Took the slide off, sprayed silicone on a tissue and rubbed it on all the sliding rails (after cleaning) out it back together, new bottle of gas and BANG, it worked a dream.
