Couldn't tell you what would be a good book but it would be worth downloading and printing a chord chart. I'm just picking it up myself.

Ya i have printed off a chord chart but thought a book might be helpful for the more difficult stuff like getting into the hang of strumming etc

I haven't read many guitar books so I'm no expert on that part, but the best help I got learning to strum was vids like this one.

The falcons right, Justinguitar is a great site for beginners.

I've never found books to be very helpful and anything a book can tell you, you can usually find online for free anyway.

Lads one of the best places to get chord info is ultimateguitar.com very very good for learning guitar. It's all user submissions so some are more accurate than others. And I use chordie.com too. Good luck.
