Windows 7 clean install - boot problem

Hey folks.... hoping someone can shed light on a little problem I have.

The OH's laptop is only a month old and she clicked on something that popped up on the net the other day and BANG some kind of virus has taken over Antivirus Centre. Scan with AVG, McAfee etc showed no problems.

Given the laptop was so new, and she had practically nothing saved on it, I thought the best thing would be to do a factory reset from the restore CD's I create when we got the laptop. My understanding is that these delete everything on the hard disk and re-install the OS.

This seemed to work until I shut down the computer. It will not re-boot since. (I have done everything 3 times now with same result). Am I missing something? Should I format the HD before re-installing the OS. What about the partition? What do I do with this.

Sorry about the lenghty post, am at wits ends and sick of it now....

    Any help much appreciated!

    Problem solved.. thanks.

Ran the repair CD from boot and windows found and repaired the problem. Had to download the repair CD from the net. There is a dell issue with burning your own... they don't work!!!

TIP> Burn the repair CD at the slowest speed. (Somethimes they don't work otherwise)
