I may be fooling myself here but i cant get over the amount amount of people out here saying that all trades should be working for next to nothing. I have spent many years training, investing in tools and machinery and taking hits from those who end up not paying to say that 80 euro a day is an acceptable wage.
I work six days a week currently, seven this week, just in on a bank holiday sunday after a days work. Just to make ends meet.
I dont have a fancy lifestyle in fact i havent done anything bar work for the last three months (sorry attended one wedding) and yet i barely get by.
i have a very good workshop set up and tool kit. (all paid for) i have consistent work which i am very grateful to have. yet it all doesnt add up.
80 euro a day isnt an acceptable wage for any legitimate person who wants any sort of life.
people can prey on those who are in such dire straits that they have to accept that wage and slowly they will drive every reasonable tradesperson abroad and be left with the chancers who will leave irelands buildings looking like those from a shanty town.
I think that anyone who considers all factors and not just the blinkered views of penny pinchers that any reasonable tradesperson deserves a reasonable days wage for a decent days work.
this considered 150 is not an extraordinary amount 120 for local work as a baseline and i mean baseline for anyone to work from.

    P.s a labourer is not a builder

    1 word.......receession.

No one has the money of the "celtic tiger era" to splash out with anymore.

No point in bitching about it,just deal with it,price as cheaply as you can to get the work and get on with the work.

PS-Im a serious haggler and barter,er and Ive no problem saying that either.I want a very good deal and if others can give me a good deal with proof of good work, then they will get my money. Its done me very well so far with regards to building my house.

If you dont ask, then you wont get.

    Simples.
