BMW Mechanic in Dublin

Ive got an oil leak on my BMW 316. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Dublin who might be cheaper than bringing it to a main dealer?

I took it to a garage last week and was quoted €200 to fix the leak and service the car. They replaced a gasket but I noticed a few days later there was still a leak. When I went back I was told that they fixed €200 worth of a leak, they couldn't do anymore for that kind of money - this despite the fact that €200 was quoted by them, not me. They then started talking about taking the whole engine apart and it being a two day job to fix. I dont know enough about cars to know if thats actually necessary, but it sounds like theyre trying to fleece me. They didnt speak english but I heard the word "silicon" used a few times which was worrying.

The only garage I ever really trusted was 'Karfix' in tallaght and there's a lad there who specialises in BMWs. I'd give them a ring as their really honest and never screwed me over whenever I went to them.

That mechanic you paid 200 to sounds slightly dodgy.

MACE Auto Centre, Knockmitten Lane (just off Kileen Rd). I think the lad who runs it is Lithuanian but they're top notch and cheap. Specialise in BMW parts and repair.

More than slightly... I also paid them to fix my handbrake and do a pre-NCT to make sure it passes the test, as the handbrake comes up too far. Its about 5% better and still wouldnt pass the test. When I asked about this they say they dont have the machine to test it. With this in mind, how they can advertise pre NCTs on their website and premises is beyond me. Unfortunately I handed over cash without asking for a receipt / invoice, so its my own fault. Ive put it down to experience....

Thanks to everyone who recommended Scullys, not cheap but great service.

Sorry; to be clear, the job wasn't cheap - as I was told to expect. Thats not a criticism of the mechanic
