    Hi All,

Long term lurker, first time poster. I've been reading threads in the ART forum for quite a while and am really impressed by the knowledge of posters here. I'm hoping that some of you can offer some decent suggestions on clubs that are potentially a good fit for me.

Background is that I'm a 34 year old guy looking to join a running / athletics club in Dublin. I used to run cross-country many moons ago as a teenager, but gradually drifted away from the sport. I've started back in the gym ~12 months ago and am now capable of running 5 kms in under 21 minutes (under 22 minutes comfortably) and 10 kms in under 45 minutes on the threadmill. However, I'm finding myself starting to tire of the threadmill and would really like a push to start running outdoors and meet some new people in the process.

Essentially, I'm asking you to kindly recommend me a running club that fulfills the following criteria:
    • Willing to accept a 30-something guy i.e. I'm not a teenager who is a potential future world champ.
    • Wouldn't perceive the 5 kms / 10 km times I've posted above as ridiciously slow.
    • Friendly, social environment. Social life is a bit stale at the moment, so would also like to meet some new people as well as getting fit.
    • Located in South or West Dublin where I work and live respectively.
Sorry for the long post. Would really appreciate your suggestions on clubs that I should investigate.

    Cheers.

I think alot of people running could benefit from joining a club.
Alot of people have the perception that to join a club you need to be
a 15minute 5k runner or an elite of some sort. The heart of most clubs come from people who help out coaching, sharing advise and having all levels so people can become a better athlete.

    Clubs:Liffey Valley ac,Tallaght ac,Donore Harriers,Rathfarnam,MSB !!!
