DM8000 hanging during channel changing

    Folks,
I found my DM8000 to hang last night during channel surfing. I had been away for several days, back yesterday. So I didn't know if this was just a once off or a new occurrence.

But it turns out its a latent bug in Enigma2 and seems specific to the DM8000 at the moment. No indications that it is affecting the DM800, 500HD or Vu+ and other variants. It started to occur yesterday it would seem.

DMM posted a work-around on their blog today while they get a formal fix in place..
    http://www.dreambox-blog.com/index.php/4737/workaround-fur-wiederkehrende-hanger-bei-der-dm8000

The long and short is that you need to telnet/ssh onto the box and..
stop enigma2 with command "init 4"
vi /etc/enigma2/settings, adding the line "config.misc.useTransponderTime=false" save and exit

If you're not familiar with vi, you can also use joe.. joe /etc/enigma2/settings and then use the cursor to navigate to the last line in the config.misc section and then press return to enter or paste in your new line. You then save with Ctrl-k and then x

Then restart enigma2 with "init 3"

This does put the box on its own clock losing the ability to sync it with transponders. That will slip over time.

There is apparently an NTP plugin which can get the box to sync time over the Internet which should do an equivalent job until the transponder issue is fixed. I haven't bothered looking into this as I would expect the patch to be available quickly via the update option.
