I am hoping to teach English to French students next year, I am a student myself but what are the qualifications I would need to teach English?

ACELS CELT and CELTA are two of the better known ones. If you have any notions about teaching in Ireland in the future, the former is the Department of Education's own qualification and is what most English language colleges in Ireland look for from their teachers. The latter is Cambridge University's and would be better known outside of Ireland (it costs c. €500 more). Both courses are essentially the same and take a month to do.

Don't bother with online courses or weekend courses.

Any TEFL course to get you started. Cambridge Celta courses have been recommended to me a lot.
