Forgot to post this sorry. During the week mrs daytob and I were in Thomas Street and went into the 2euro store. I forget what its called but its the one with the blue sign. Anyway she has been complaining that she has sensitive teeth so when we saw a Sensodyne gift set for 2 euros we picked it up.

It contains Sensodyne Pro-Namel toothpaste * medium sized tube
    Sensodyne toothbrush
A Sensodyne mouthwash around 50mls but still worth it
    for 2euros!

when we went into a grocery store later this week, the toothbrush alone was over €4!

Dont know if its nationwide but its handy if you or someone you know has sensitive teeth

You'll never stop having sensitive teeth using that stuff, I had withdrawl symphtons from it. Took over a week for my teeth to settle down after using it, really should be avoided at all costs only makes a slight sensitive problem a lot worse. It's easier to get off crack cocaine.
See a dentist if you've teeth problems.

My dentist recommended sensodyne when I told him I had a sensitive tooth. He also x-rayed it and couldn't see anything wrong with it.

I have sensitive teeth and for the past three months have been using sensodine. I have found no great results. I still cannot eat icecreams like they do in the ads... ' magic! ' says the big ginger..

Did your Dentist tell you that you might be being too forcefull brushing your teeth and the way you brush them?

This is going to hurt for a week or so and it may be a month before you can have that ice cream but stop using sensodine and go back to normal toothpaste. The first few days your mouth is going to feel funny, about 6 days after coming off the sensodine you'll have that funny feeling you get after the dentist where your mouth feels all thingly as the anaesthetic wears off. That feeling lasts for 2/3 days and then your on the road to ice cream heaven. Your teeth will still be sensitive for about 2 weeks after that but hot and cold will gradually get a lot easier. Try it and see how you go your teeth aren't half as sensitive as sensodine would make you believe.

It was my dentist that recommended sensodine for me, very reluctant to ever go back to them after she got me hooked on that snake oil.

Happy out now using aquafresh and teeth fully better. Its going to hurt coming off it but push through the pain and you'll be a lot happier tucking into those summer ices.

^ That makes no sense. If your teeth are sensitive when you use normal toothpaste how exactly will going back to normal toothpaste help?

It's hardly snake oil if it works.

It doesn't work, in small doeses yes but as a 3times a day solution your teeth will be ridiculously sensitive when you don't use it. It's not a cure for sensitive teeth. It's addictive.
Going back to normal toothpaste is painfull but your pain threshold will adjust, it will never using any of these pain relief toothpastes.

Interesting responses about it here, have to agree with some of them as I've personally experienced it http://www.patientsville.com/medication/sensodyne_side_effects.htm

i'm stopping as of today.. thanks for your information i never even considered over use having a negative effect, considering that every smarmy dentist they can find promotes it on tv...

It's going to hurt red, to the point where you might not even be able to brush your teeth for a day or 2. It's worth it though.
Don't do what I did and move to something like colgate sensitive pro relief that's nearly worse.
If you have a sensitive tooth just rub on a tiny amount with your finger till your unhooked, only do it once or twice a week.

oh ok. thanks.. quite the nice little trap they make with this stuff isn't it? well i guess ill have to grit my teeth and try bare the pain.. crap pun unfortunately intended..
    thanks again.

A small aside, be careful about accepting medical advice from random people on the internet, as (perhaps not in this case, who knows) there are alot of crazy people out there who believe alot of things. Feel free to try anything that doesnt sound too dodgy, but don't be afraid to switch back to whatever your professional advises.

I'd 100% agree with you but I'm not a crazy just went to hell and back with my teeth when I was given professional advice to change my toothpaste. I don't know what they teach in dentist school but advising everyone to use sensodine can't be one of the things.
On the packet it says to use for no more than 4 weeks, people are using sensodine as an everyday toothpaste which is not what it was intended for.

A word of caution for Red, if your problem doesn't improve from cutting out the sensodine see a dentist. Just don't accept sensodine as a cure after handing over good money for professional advise.

Intesting to see how Red is getting on without it on day one. Hope I'm right and things do improve over the next few weeks but as op says it can be a bad idea to take advice from a non professional who doesn't know the full facts.

Would like to see a thread in sensodine in the proper thread and to hear from professionals about there view on it.
