Any compelling reason to keep UPC tv?

Moved from sky to UPC just after series link came in. TV, phone, broadband. The whole enchilada. Saved a bundle moving from sky and eircom.

Howevet, had a terrible time getting everything working properly. A month for the phone to settle down and number ported, tv just as long. Every 6 months or so the digibox gets upset and I waste a half days holiday I could be spending with my kids some other time waiting for the engineer to come out, try a few things and then replace the box.
Ant the hours I waste on hold to the support team make it all worse.

Sky was never this much trouble. Had them for 8 years prior, and box never broke once.

Anyway, the digibox is acting up again. So this time I'm thinking maybe to go back to sky (but keep UPC broadband and phone). For the same tv package (with more channels), it's a fiver extra a month.

A possible sticking point is the phone line. A bunch of threads on boards indicate that for most people the UPC phone works with sky.

Am willing to give it a try, worst case is sky installer leaves my house having failled with the phone line and I'm left with UPC.

Can anyone point out any gotcha's, or reasons I should stick with UPC tv?

Few things to remember from dropping Upc for tv:

Phone and BB will be charged at list price
Standalone charge of €7.75 will be added on to broadband
If you did have any problems with sky box its a €100 callout charge each time
To solve the problem just ask them for the newer Hd Ready D4A boxes - they work a treat.

On the other hand the upc phoneline does work with sky

I have had UPC for the last 6 years and only had to call them out once (that was for the broadband) but TV has never been an issue.

I think it is a great service and good for the price, Sky seems very expensive and least I know, there is no call out charge with UPC (if ever I need it) :)
