i find they are good. the surgeon team is very nice. I was very nervous though. even thought not to go ahead with left eye after right eye was done. but i went ahead at the end. they are very patient, find the surgeon is particularly good. he warned me with all possible risks I might face.

good luck and let me know.

    Hi
I got my laser eye done this time last month with optical express. Its been a huge success. Surgery is painless, recover very quickly (1 day in my case). Had a very slight halo effect for the first 1ndhalf to two weeks but that has disapeared now.

I've been given referral vouchers if anyone is interested. Theres an option to split the value of the voucher and it works out that you would get 150 euro off surgery price and I would get 150 euro cheque. PM me if your interested and ill post them out to you. I was given 8 vouchers and def dont know that many people who would be getting laser eye done.

well i went in on sat just for the consult... found them really really nice - cant fault them at all- only for their price!!

I was told i needed wavefront and would not consider me witjout doing it - because the way my eyes are (-4.5 both eyes) and id be going for LESIK which would also be more suitable.. A shocking €3561.. i really dont know what to do now..

I would seriously love to get it done but my only problem at the moment is im only covering mat leave at the mo and will be finishing up the end of july.. i can afford it now but my only down side is ill be broke come aug and i obviously dont know how long ill be out of work for!!!

there not putting pressure on me to decide or anything but he's going to ring me from OE tomorrow and see have i made a decision..

I was told by the dentist i would need to get my jaw re-wired which will cost €4000 plus and my mother is more adament on me getting that done but i want to be glasses free :D!!

    sooooo confused!!

    Hi ya,

I got my eyes done in optical express at the end of April. I got wavefront lasek surgery done and I was both long and short sighted with a minus 5 astigmatism.
The surgery itself isn't too bad, youre in the chair for less than 20 minutes. It's slightly uncomfortable but nothing unbearable and the nurses are very nice.
However I seem to be one of the slower recovery people. My eyes aren't as good as they were with glasses and there is still a bit of blurriness. Someone else I know got LASIK done and could see perfectly the next day. In retrospect I wish I had gotten the quicker recovery surgery done. It's more expensive but well worth it.

Just to post a very individual experience in regards of aftercare received from optical express.

First all, they are very sales oriented, I guess just like anywhere else, or they called it efficient.

secondly, their aftercare is , mm depending on which optimist you are dealing with. Some of them are very good and very patient, some are not. But I found most of them are nice and one or two of them are very professional.defo knows about what they are doing on your eyes.

well, in regards of result, I am one of those unlucky 5%, well, I have to say that its normal to have a failure rate eventhough laser is very accurate. I accepted the fact that one eye was perfect 20/20, the other was corrected to long sighted, so from my last check up, the optimist advised that I would need a top up surgery in few weeks time on the eye which has gone to long sighted. I am not very happy about it as its really a scary experience. but I accepted as a fact and I would like to have my eye corrected to the best.

So anyone here had a top up like what I will go through in weeks' time? any advice? or would you just simply share your experience?

My experience with optical express has been nothing short of horrific. I got laser eye surgery on 13/08/2011. I suffered immensely as soon as I left the clinic. The procedure is to go home an lie down and keep your eyes closed. My eyes were in awful pain and a type of distress that is indescribable. For about 8 hours after I was sitting in a darkened room, eyes closed rubbing my arms, my legs, anything else as I couldn't touch my eyes. I went for check ups that week and basically was told that my eyes had taken a very bad reaction to the treatment and were very inflamed.

After a few weeks my eyes settled and my vision was perfect. I had slightly poorer night vision and didn't like bright lights but apart from that I was delighted to finally have good eyesight.

However I could feel my eyesight getting worse after the first year and it regressed until I was -0.5, I was then getting free check ups. I was told that I would get a free top-up surgery if my eyesight continued to regress up to a 4 year time limit. My eyesight continued to regress and I ended up wearing glasses again. It was agreed that I would require top-up surgery. I was keen to get on with it but the ophthalmetrist would continually recommend that I should wait until my eyesight stabilised. It regularly got worse until I was -1.0 at which point I had a meeting with an ophthalmetrist.
It was 1 year out from the deadline and she said my eyesight had still not stabilized and it would need to be stable for a year before they would do surgery. I said I will need to get it done soon and she said: In a case like yours we will extend the deadline as it is important to get it right, I asked are you sure you don't need to have it done within the deadline? No it is important that we get the best result possible we wouldn't leave you like that.
At the time I was almost going to say can I get that in writing, but they always seemed professional to deal with and I trusted them. I took her at her word. BIG MISTAKE! When I went for a check up my eyesight had again regressed to -1.5 but it had been stable for a while. I was told I would be charged for a follow up operation as the deadline had passed, I told the staff member of the conversation I had with the ophthalmetrist but they said I should take it up with head office. I called the next day and met with the woman who had said the deadline would be extended in my case. She said she couldn't remember saying that and that it doesn't sound like something she would say. I asked her does she extend deadlines in certain cases? She said she does in certain cases. It was obvious nobody in their right mind would miss a deadline like that unless they were advised otherwise. How would I know that she did that in certain cases unless she told me she was going to do it in mine?
Now they are happy to do it again if I will pay for it again. I feel utterly betrayed by people I thought were professionals and I trusted with my eyes. Please avoid and go with another provider if you have any sense.
Or if you have no other option treat your appointments like a court-case and have everything in writing.
Once there was a operation to be done with no extra financial gain, they put it off and off and then when the deadline was up said I would have to pay again. I see other negative reviews on here, I am sure I am not the only one who has been treated appallingly by optical express. I would have interest in hearing from anyone who has had a similar negative experience. My email address is <snip> if you would like to share your story with me.
