    As per the forum rules:

My current notebook is a Vaio VGN-NR32M. Vista was causing me big problems and I switched to an extended trial of Windows 7 (which I like) and this trial is now running out. The battery is dead on this and the left-click is dying so there is no point in upgrading the OS.

Budget: Money is tight, so up to €500 would be nice. I know this is tiny, but I am flexible (I would pay up to €700, if it was a great deal).

Intended use: The places where it would be pushed most would be:

    1) Sound processing/CPU - I use home studio programs like Ableton/Reason, although nothing extreme I have had the odd issue with CPU usage/sample rate on Ableton. I don't need anything high-end, but something better than previous, if possible.

    2) Watching HD movies - Rarely ran into problems with this on my current lappy running from VGA output, but a hdmi output would be nice.

Mobility: Not a problem for me. It generally stays at home.

Warranty: I rarely had one that was fully honoured, I will be damned if I will pay for an extension.

What Operating System do you use? Windows 7. I could be convinced about Macbooks, but I know that they start at a grand or so.

Input/Output: As I said above, hdmi would be cool. I need at least three USB ports (I currently have four). I can do without card readers, tbh. VGA port is essential. I am assuming things like wireless are standard.

Battery: I have never had a laptop which had a battery which lasted more than two hours, nor lasted more than 18 months. I'm not even sure if better than this exists.

So, I will leave this to the floor and look forward to your input.

    :)
