I know we all hear about tiger and his appearance fee's.

Is that only for playing outside the pga tour or does he get a fee for some events.

Any ideas on what the top players get for turning up to some events?

I heard that McIlroy got 300k for playing in Malaysia the week after the masters.

I think appearance money is "officially" banned on the European Tour so they get a huge fee to do a clinic or play a nine hole exhibition the day before an event. No idea what the going rate is, its probably a very closely guarded secret.

Don't think its allowed on the PGA Tour either. They get around it by having these players
attending dinners, shaking hands and just generally promoting the tournament.
The sponsors would then take good care of these players im sure.

It was reported by SKY that tiger got 3million euro for his game in Dubai where he spat on the green, isn't that a European Tour PGA event?
I recall back in the early 80's the european tour would pay appearance fees to the american players but refused to pay any european golfers appearance money, so in protest Seve refused to play in the 1981 ryder cup and europe got slaughtered. It was after that they changed the rule and any player could recieve appearance fees. Throughout the 90's it was rumoured that the sponsors had to match the prize money with appearance money for the top players.

Appearance fee is not banned on the European Tour. There are no restrictions whatsoever.
