Saw the title and was amazed it wasn't started by Richard Dower.

    Also, meh.

There's no such thing as planned reality TV. Reality TV only happens when when the people concerned are completely unaware of the cameras.

Good drama is more realistic than reality TV.

networks gotta make money, reality tv is the easiest way to make a fast buck. The problem comes when networks get greedy and the large majority of their output is reality tv (like mtv).

Why exactly is it an issue if AMC branches into non-scripted TV?

Because i love what AMC have done so far and i think they are going to dilute there brand by going into reality tv.

Well there'd be a concern that they'd get better the same ratings (or better) for cheaper than their drama output. They then might decide not to bother with some of their drama outputs or investing in new ones and, given the quality of "Breaking Bad", "Mad Men" and "The Killing" that'd be a bad thing if it were to stop.

Thought The Walking Dead was quite good as well.

There may have been only 6 episodes so far, but it looks promising.
