Precious Life have produced a voting guide with some very interesting results. If you plan to vote in the Assembly Elections on 5th May and you want to protect life, you probably need to check it out before you decide who to vote for:

Interesting to note that Sinn Fein are the biggest No No and advocates of abortion! shame on them. Along with the shady greens. didnt know that about them. didnt vote for them until I heard about them and their advocacy for abortion. Disgusting. just rotten. Politicians will do anything to get a vote. Even to the point of spilling innocent blood.

No true Catholic has any business voting for Sinn Fein. I'd sooner vote for the DUP. In fact, I did last time round. My dad was disgusted with me, he was visibly angry! But life is life, and at that time, they and the SDLP were the strongest protectors of life and it is they who shall be getting my vote, number 2 and 1 respectively. My friend, an ardent Catholic republican, also voted for the DUP last time. But sadly, many Catholics will be voting for Sinn Fein this time round too.

Interestingly, I understand that by ranking your vote 1-9, or whatever number of candidates, is better than simply voting for your one favourite. I'm not sure that is the case, but let me explain:

If you favour the Hippy Party, and hate the Clown Party, you'd be best off voting 1 for the Hippy Party, right up in order of preference to your least preferred, with the Clown Party getting your number 9. Is that right or have I missed something? It was my understanding that you would inflict most harm on your least favoured party by ranking them last, rather than by simply giving a 1 vote to your favoured party and no votes to anyone else.

Sad thing that Sinn Fein are pro-Abortion... Atleast the DUP is standing up for what is morally right, Sinn Fein (if they were really catholic) should do the same. All Sinn Fein is doing is reaching out to the ultra left voters.

I thought SF didn't have an official stance on abortion? Can someone clarify this?

Check the Precious Life links above. They asked all the parties and then put the results on their website.

Sinn Féin are not, and never have been, a Catholic party.

...and, as always, I am NOT a SF supporter.

Sinn Féin is not in favour of abortion,
In cases of rape, incest or sexual abuse, or where a woman’s life and health are at risk or in grave danger, we accept that the final decision must rest with the woman

Seems they're not sure what to think :L

During the last General Election in the republic, I contacted several candidates (including SF) to find out what their views were on abortion. I found that Fine Gael and Fianna Fail were Pro-Life for the most part. :)

It's good to do that. They need to hear lots of people ask that same question so that the issue is kept alive as a burning issue in the minds of voters and politicians.

It is a dilemma when the Pro-life party has crap polices otherwise. Would it be best to put in Pro-lifers and let the country go further down the tubes?

Or, in my case, I'm struggling with a choice between UKIP and the Ulster Unionists who are uncommitted on abortion, and the DUP who are Pro-life. It galls me to have to vote for a party ( DUP) that lied its way to power. I'd like to humble them a bit.

But I've a couple of days to think & pray further.

Romans 13: 1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
