Requesting a rent reduction before the end of a lease?

    Hey guys

    I have a 1 year lease and I am just 5 months into it now, and was hoping of maybe negotiating th erent downwards. I have a 6 month break clause built in such that I can leave at any point after 6 months, subject to one month's notice, so I know technically I can just leave early and find somewhere else but do you think the landlord might entertain a 5% rent reduction only 6 months into a 1 year lease?

    Yes. Why not try for 10%? (depending on the amount you are paying!)

    Yes, but they may want something in return, such as you not taking up the break clause of your current lease or signing a new 1 year lease.
