NCT question - Front fog Lamps - Toyota Rav4

    Hi

Have a cracked front fog lamp on 2005 rav4.

I understand this is an NCT failure. Is this correct?

I also understand that if they are blanked off then they pass NCT?

These are €95 a pop, but worse still a real pain to replace - the bumper and grille have to come off!

Does anyone know if you can get blanks for rav 4 fog lamps? Can't find much on google.

    Thanks

How cracked is cracked? If you can fit the edge of a sheet of paper into the crack it's a fail, otherwise it should pass.

afaik any cracked glass is a failure

I had an NCT failure for a cracked fog lamp before...took the car outside after the test, removed the 2 screws & clip and put the lamp in the boot. Went back in for a visual 15 min later and passed.

Drove off and put lamp back in at home :D

Just get some gaffer or elephant tape and completely cover the 2 fog lamps.

Never heard of that sheet of paper rule, my understanding was that it was either chipped, cracked or not broken at all.

The tape thing has worked for me lots of times, cost €5 max and no effort required.

    Page 32 of NCT manual

"A broken glass on an auxiliary lamp or fog lamp is not a reason for failure unless the crack or break is large enough to insert a sheet of paper as used in the test"

afaik if you just remove your fog/spot lamps on the front it will pass, if they are not there they are not broken:D
