Linking your iphone to a server ?

Hi all.

Just wondering if this is possible. I've not tested it yet but want to see if anyone has tried it.

Your Iphone will play movies in mp4 format.

If you upload some .mp4 movies to a server ( I've 2 servers one in Ireland and one in the US) ,

Can you put in the URL or IP address access the folder ,, Click the movie and play it on your phone ?

That'll depend entirely on how the server is configured to display files and whether the files are within the iPhones supported formats.

there are apps like vlc streamer, im sure you can put in an url to connect to, i dont know i havent tried,
Im sure xbmc for iphone can do it also, if you can manage setup with a small screen

when i got home i uploaded a .mp4 file to my server and entered the URL on my iphone and the file played it's was clear and awesome

The Air Video app should allow you to do this.
